.::Pretend like it's the Weekend::.

"Can't you see that its just raining? Ain't no need to go outside... but Baby, you hardly even notice when I try to show you this song is meant to keep ya from doing what your supposed to, like waking up too early. Maybe we can sleep in. I'll make you banana pancakes; pretend like its the weekend now. We could pretend it all the time..."

Day Twenty-Six

A Photo of Your Favorite Subject in School:My favorite subject in school... so far... was sustainability. I really loved the class and talking about our different outlooks on sustainability. It was great discussing how to make a difference in how we view our environment through legal channels.

Day Twenty-Five

A Photo that Inspires You:I was really inspired by the most recent episode of extreme home makeover where the crew assisted a family who had lost their oldest daughter in a single-car accident. As it turns out, she was texting friends on her way to school and never made it. Her mom was the one who found her, thrown from her vehicle, on the side of the road. Out of this unimaginable tragedy came a really inspiring mission: her family now goes across the country talking to high school kids about the dangers of texting and driving. Perhaps the saddest thing for me was the little sister, who says not one day goes by that she doesn't miss her big sister. It's such an awful loss. Nothing you could possibly have to say in a text is worth your life. Don't text and drive!!!

Day Twenty-Four

A Photo of What You Want to Be When You Grow Up:Well, as many of you know, I'd like to work as a prosecutor when I get done with law school... and eventually I'd like to work at NOAA and then work my way up in the government to help with the establishment of our national environmental policy. But... I feel like I'm already grown up, so, looking at this from a long-term perspective: when I grow up I'd like to be retired.

Day Twenty-Three

A Photo of Something You Want to Do Someday:
I have always wanted to go down to Baja during February and see the gray whales in their calving lagoons. Apparently they are known for being incredibly friendly and for approaching the boats to show off their babies and get scratches and lovin (as seen above). This is particularly incredible to me because it wasn't that long ago that people would go to the calving lagoons to kill them for their oil and blubber. It's amazing the messages that nature sends us, and the gray whale's message is clear: forgiveness.

Day Twenty-Two

A Photo You Associate a Good Memory With:Here is a picture of me and my mom at the 2007 Kentucky Derby. I had a great weekend with her, and even bet on the winner: Street Sense. I nearly hit the trifecta, but the horse I picked to come in third ran fourth instead. Oh well... such is racing. Despite the yucky food and overcast weather, me and mom had a wonderful time. I'd love to go again someday!
